Book projects due on Thursday!

Only two more days before January book projects are due.  Many students are presenting already, but the deadline is Thursday!  In reading today students continued to read with partners in their narrative books.  Some students commented that the ‘disability’ or difference their character has doesn’t show up much in the story.  It’s interesting…students are learning that having  a disability doesn’t have to define who they are.

Students continued to practice their spelling words for the week.  Practicing at home is the homework for tonight.  Practice can be oral or written, whichever works best for each student.

In math we practiced using two methods to multiply a three digit by a one digit number.  They are getting pretty good at this!  Show your parents how you can do this!  Homework is just two sheets this week.  Somehow the orange ones never made it back from the printer.  Students are crushed!  (Ha, ha!  Actually, some are, amazingly enough!)

In science we are beginning our unit on electricity! We are so excited! We will use  a D-cell (battery), a wire, and a lightbulb and experiment how we can use the battery to make the lightbulb light up! (Don’t worry this is safe!) This introduces the idea of electricity flowing through a closed circuit (circle). We love to see the lighbulbs turn on in science as well as in their minds!

In social studies will be learning A LOT about Lewis and Clark today! We are going to take powernotes and add to our chart of what we learned about Lewis and Clark. It is so important that everyone studies their notes because on Thursday we are going to play a jeopardy game where students need to know the facts without using their notes! We will also have our unit test next Thursday! Just keep studying!
