We thoroughly enjoyed hearing about all of the mysteries that were read this past month! Nice job, students!
In reading students talked about the main theme of their books. Next they found out more about the condition that the main character had to deal with. Some of these conditions were: learning disability, visual impairment, diabetes, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy. Each group has a different book and will teach the rest of the class about their character’s disability. They will work on these presentations today and tomorrow and will be present on Monday. Homework is the usual reading and recording on the blue reading logs. Our next book project will be a combo Feb/March one and will be handed out after President’s Day weekend. So, students, you have a couple of weeks off from worrying about book projects. In February, we will be keeping track of our reading for a schoolwide reading challenge in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Instead of having to fill out coupons to keep track of the reading, we are just going to use our blue reading logs to keep track. That way parents won’t have to fill out more than one thing to track the same reading.
In writing we took our spelling test and talked some more about our pre-write planning for our new narrative.
In math we will continue to practice 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication. Homework tests will be tomorrow. Make sure you study and finish your sheets.
Principal Pride winners today were: Jonah, Brianna, and Malia. Congratulations!
In social studies we are playing jeopardy today to practice our knowledge of sea explorers, the Louisiana Purchase, and Lewis and Clark. Everyone should have studied their notes to be able to answer the questions correctly. It will be a fun way to show what we have learned so far!
In science we are continuing to work with open and closed circuits. We will use a switch to turn on and off a lightbulb by using the battery as our souce of electricity. A closed circuit will ultimately allow the light to turn on! Very cool!
