New novels!

Today we began reading new novels! Students began reading either Yang the Third and her Impossible Family or The Girl with 500 Middle Names. Both of these books have a common theme about moving to a new school and fitting in! I think we can all make personal connections to these books! Also, for homework, continue to read because we will count all of our hours for our Dr. Seuss Read Across America.

Today we had computers during writing, so we began planning for our electricity powerpoints! We are so lucky to be working with Mr. Devereaux with electricity powerpoints. We have been doing an electricity unit in science, so now we can use this opportunity to integrate science with technology and make electricity powerpoints. Today we began planning what we will put on our powerpoint slides. Students will make 3 slides with electricity today and 3 slides with life without electricity. Tomorrow students will get the chance to search for clipart and pictures to put in their powerpoints during computers 4th period. Also, tomorrow we will continue writing our narrative rough drafts. Don’t forget to study your spelling words!

In math we practiced 2digit by 3 digit multiplication problems.  There are so many places to make errors!  We are making progress though.  Homework is the usual sheeets.

In science we are finishing working with circuits. Students will use conductors to solve mystery circuits. So much fun!

In social studies we are learning about Christian Missionaries. We will read our social studies textbook and take powernotes. Tomorrow we will reviw for our test by going over all of our notes. Thursday we will have our unit test on early explorers and visitors. Please continue studying your notes at home so you will be prepared for the test!

February book orders were made available today for students that wanted to take some.  If interested, they are due back in a week, on Tuesday, February 9th.

Don’t forget to keep practicing your parts for the play!
