Metric conversions in math today!

Today in reading we had our last discussion group! All of us are now reading the middle part of our book. As we read, we are looking for 2 vocabulary words, filling out our great thinker’s chart and study questions sheet, and writing a letter to Mrs. Huffman, Miss Simmons, or Mrs. Elithorp about fitting in. Once these activities are complete we will have more discussion groups! Don’t forget to keep track of your reading hours at home!

Instead of writing, we had computers today, and got the chance to work on our electricity powerpoints! Also don’t forget to practice your spelling words! The test will be on Thursday!

In math we began to learn about metric measurements of length. We began this unit by learning the customary measurements of length, and now we are learning metric. We are also practicing converting measurements. Practice! Practice! Practice! Also, don’t forget our math homework, because we will be having our math test on Thursday since it is a shortened week!

In social studies we are continuing our unit on immigrants. Most importantly, before learning about others, we must learn about ourselves. Today we will have the opportunity to learn about our own personal identity and culture, and see how our class diversity can relate to our state and nation’s diversity as well. Don’t forget the family tree assignment is due on Thursday!

We also had food sense today! We got to make homemade chicken nuggets! What a great idea for dinner or lunch.

Book orders were due today.

Don’t forget to return your Celebrating Differences signature form. Also, be practicing your lines at home for the Celebrating Differences program!

Reminder:  if you are doing valentines, please bring them by Thursday as that is the day of our party.
